The Dec. 21 / 22 total lunar eclipse

ve Dec. 21 / 22 total lunar eclipse (timing and date depending, of course, on your location) was the last until 2014. It was also the last one that coincides with the Winter Solstice until 2094. For those who felt it was far too late to stay up to watch, or could not watch due to weather or simply because they were not on the night side of the Earth, you can watch the "compressed" lunar eclipse online, below.
The actual lunar eclipse lasted for hours, with the totality portion of the event lasting 72 minutes, from 11:41 PM PST until 12:53 AM PST the next morning. CNN has managed to compress the entirety of the event into less than a minute, but you can still enjoy the beauty of an eclipsed moon, at any rate.
Naturally, you can also pause it. Watch the Dec. 21 / 22 total lunar eclipse online, below. You can also watch a second video that includes an interview with Andrew Fazekas, “The Night Sky Guy”, who provides more information on the celestial event.
